SOCOTRA, AN ALIENATED ISLAND

SOCOTRA, also called Soqotra, is an isolated island located near Gulf of Aden in the Indian ocean and politically as part of the Republic of Yemen. It is the biggest island among the others three islets: Abd al kuri, Samhah, and Darsa,  in Socotra archipelago.

 One of many unique travel destination because of its odd flora and fauna you won't find in other places in this planet. Its isolation has evolved a distinct biodiversity and strange looking landscape. We'll feel that we are not in this planet when we're here.

Dragon Blood Tree

Dragon blood tree, the characteristic of the island, has unusual look, really much look like a giant mushroom. The tree grows slowly with a rate about 10 cm/year. It has many branch while in its every branch grows trunks which grow that shaping a canopy. It has green leaves that only grow on the youngest branch.

Socotra Cave

Located in East part of the island, The cave is about 15 meters in diameter, 8 meter high and about 500-1000 meter deep. The cave offers an overwhelming beauty and variety of crystal decoration such as the thousands year old of stalagmites and stalactites.

Because of its unique animal and plant, UNESCO honors SOCOTRA as one of The World Heritage Site.in July 2008.
