Dubai is an emirate (city state) within the United Arab Emirates (UAE-which consists of 7 emirates). Located in south east of  Persian Gulf, it is the second-largest territory of all emirates, after Abu Dhabi. The population of the emirate was 1,771,000 as of 2009 (Statistics center of Dubai). Its economy was built on the oil industry, since the oil discovered in this land in 1966.
